supercombined Is the by fAr the Most frequent and beloved event on the may of dreamS calendar. brOs alwayS flock from fAr anD away to partake in the experience that unites us all. wednesday was no exception.
this story is a faMiliAr one. we arrived at universitY lanes, happy to be out OF the intense heat and paid our fair to the nice laDy behind the desk. she loves us. we pRocEeded to pick our bAlls. soMe like heavy, Some lIght, Some pink. i like the blaCk One with the tiny holes; perfect for my fingers.
since it was the final supercoMbINed of may of dreams the oriGinal five (minus jordy) felT it apprOpriAte to use our real, full Names. the other tEam made hilarious Names which I cannot remember, but they were great. dreams of the 1000 mark were high in everyone's minDs but We didn't want the pressure to get to us. karan and a.chan arrived sligHtly lATe. kAran didn't want to miss out of the fun so Played with himsElf. not neaRly as Fun as playing with bros.
as a side note, the stain on my pants that was only visiblE in black light was just soap. i must have put my CloThes in first and then added soap. stoopid!
the 10-pin portion of supercoMbined yielded cOmbined score of 443 we knew much work was to be doNe on 5-pin but felT up to the cHallenge. the 5-pin game started slow but we soon felt the presence of jordy and the spIrit and knew we could do it. i bowLed the best game Of my life... thanks jordy. we ended with a combined score of 1060. wow. a special shout out to new commers brian king (not the prof) and his gf dalia. great bowlers. brian king produced a turkey and a score on 5-pin of 211!!! wow!
on to the phoenix we go. the boys knew they had work to do, possibly 8 pitchers to finish to make their goal. turns out it was less than 8. they did it. i'm so proud. scott, being the bro that he is bought some nachos with his gift certificate he won last week, nice. i think i ate them all. a.chan being the fugitive that he is skipped out on the bill, nice (he later paid me back).
our final stop of the night: may of dreams central. we all sat in a nice circle around the table michael's grandfather crafted with his own two hands, on our beautiful patio, surrounded by the spirit. oVer the month of may the trEe that inbodies the spirit on the patio has grown verY tall, not surprising at all. we enjoyed some mOre tasty brews and learned the art of bottle opening from brian king. In attempt to show derek how its done he knocked over every single beer bottle on the patio, most of which were remnants of the previoUs night's century club. so much skill.
the entertAinment of the night consisted of us reminiscing about cLassic songs of our youth and showing off our memory skiLls by signing all the words. so much fun. we realized songs these days aren't what they used to be, they don't carry the same wholesome messages (i.e. black eyed peas "where's the love"). other songs of the era with equally wholesome messages: B4-4 "get down" with the famous lyric "i'm going to make you come tonight...over to my house". we can't forget shaggy and the bloodhound gang.
we ended the night with some nice relaxing tunes picked by mike, derek and brian. what a nice end to a perfect supercombined. good night boys.

At long last

When the beauty that is may of dreams, was still in its infancy, an idea was had. An idea that would inspire may of dreams to blossom into what it now is and forever will be. This idea came into being when Mike made an observation one day while leisurely scanning the local area in his atlas (googlemaps). He noticed that there was a canal leading from cootes paradise all the way into dundas, where of course a beer store is located. Putting the two together one of the greatest quests of all time was born. After some preliminary scouting Mr. Afanasiev brought this idea before a counsel of bros, upon which May of Dreams was born.
Some may say this quest to canoe to the beerstore is the foundation on which may of dreams was built. At the very least the cornerstone which holds it together. It therefore became concerning when three weeks in we had not accomplished this epic feat. The real challenge was getting the canoe from Sara's house, all the way up the mountain. Yet when the good weather came and Mike was able to obtain a vehicle, the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. It was on this fateful day in which we would attempt the long awaited trip.
After obtaining the canoe, and seeing Sara's 13 year old dog do some cool tricks, we all met at arnold and set off on what promised to be an adventure. Upon getting to princess point, the gentlemen decided that Sara would wait while 4 bros went on the first trip. Having soccer myself I was hoping the round trip would take under 45 minutes, as was Sara.
As we set sail from princess point we couldn't help but notice the beauty of cootes paradise. Even with the murky brown water and floating shit, we marveled at the wonder of nature while paddling across open water. We made our way to the canal.
Once at the canal we realized that cootes paradise is very shallow. While pushing the canoe along the bottom we grew wary of the surrounding swans. As the situation worsened, a decision was made to beach and portage over what looked like a promising island. On the other side, the water remained shallow but with determination is every stroke, we found deeper water and continued onwards. At this point we entered the canal and took yet another wrong turn.
Beached again we were defenceless against the hordes of oncoming mutant fish. Fish the size of cows were fast approaching and at times attacking the canoe. Some may say Bram peed his pants. We were forced to get out in ankle deep mud and portage across a sandbar.
Once on the other side it was smooth sailing. Through a winding canal we canoed, enjoying the beauty of cootes. We observed many swans, ducks, among other fowl, and at point we saw what was thought to be an alligator. Unfortunately it was not, yet not to disappoint we realized it was some sort of rodent such as an otter or muskrat swimming alongside the canoe. This was clearly the spirit coming to say hello.
After much paddling we arrived in dundas where we got out, portaged the canoe across a field, and then parked it nicely at the beerstore. In the midst of much celebration and jubilation, some knuckle head almost drove over our canoe, but don't tell Sara. In stark contrast, another customer getting out of his car exclaimed "HAHAHAHA, THAT COULD BE A COMMERCIAL!". Cool. At the beerstore the boys each grabbed some tasty cold ones and borrowed the phone to call Sara.
At this point it will suffice to say Sara was not pleased because in contrast to the expect half hour trip, she had been sitting alone for the past 2 hours. James and Scott had chosen to chill at home for a while knowing it would take a while, leaving Sara shoeless and alone. A sad situation indeed remedied only by the fact spirit was clearly taking care of her. Needless to say she was a little less than happy when talking to the victorious bros, yet a plan was made anyways for Joms, Scott and Sara to drive to dundas and trade off, canoeing back.
Once arriving Sara heard of all the mud and chose to simply drive back with the boys. At this point Mike, Scott and Joms had a lovely paddle back at dusk, witnessing a turtle larger than thought possible, and a very frightened and flustered beaver.

The other boys took a stop at Brian's where he made amends with Sara by cooking her a steak.
Afterwards the boys chose to shower and reconvened at 50 Arnold to commence another ambitious task: Century Club. With the voice of James Brown guiding us, we began to drink a shot of beer every minute. Everything was going well until approximately the 30th shot when our friend Scott had to vomit. Following suit Joms was not feeling well and had to miss a couple shots. With great music playing and the beer flowing everyone was feeling great.
NOTE: at this point we discovered the key to century club: burping.
It was looking like Brian, Mike and Myself were going all the way until Mike retired to the backyard and came back to tell us he threw up. So close to the end, Brian too fell and vomited a surprisingly large amount into the predetermined plastic bags. Nonetheless the boys caught up and even continued doing shots after the 100 minute mark to prove their prowess. I myself finished without vomiting for the first time, and will be recognized by the Government of Canada, being given the Royal Medal of Honour in June.
At this point all the gentlemen were quite drunk, and enjoyed some lovely music as well as a song Mike wrote recently for May of Dreams. With such comradeship, before retiring to bed, the boys told each other how much they mean to one another. There is no doubt in my mind the spirit was more potent this night than perhaps ever before.

Fireworks
I think we can all agree that fireworks are sick.
There's nothing better than lighting a little piece of fuse on fire and then having something explode in a shower of sparks and colour; which is exactly what we did on Monday night.
Fireworks night started off with a bunch of bros chillin, waiting around for it to get dark, I believe a test firework was let off to make sure that fireworks were still awesome.
Once it was dark the bros decided to move out to our launch area. We had some debate over the legality of what we were doing but it was decided in a consensus that no one really cared. We started off with one of those works that shot off one lone little green light which once it reached a nice height exploded with a night shattering bang. It was decided they were sick. We made efficient work of all the fireworks in the big box Mike got taking turns lighting them off. Quality photos were made of bros standing under the shower of exploding light which need to be uploaded immediately by Derek. Shout out to James at this point for having no fear, as everyone shouts for him to get out of the way he just keeps bathing in the light. After we finished most of the showering ones we decided to start launching two at a time. It was awesome.
Eventually we came to near the end of the box and decided we needed to do something special. So, as we stood in the field singing the national anthem, Mike let off the last big firework which exploded in a brilliant red explosion.
It was a completely laid back end to the long weekend and it was the definition of a solid may of dreams night.

London Tap House (May 21)
The planning for this evening was not as smooth sailing as everyone had hoped. Jenna emailed London Tap House on Monday regarding a party limo and did not receive a response until Wednesday. The initial time given was 10:00pm which was quite early. But since the may of dreams members had already become accustomed to drinking a tasty beverage in the direct hours after work, we decided to jump on the opportunity. However, there was another "Mix Up" and our time got pushed back to 9:30pm. Also, we had planned on enough space for 16 people but they informed us it would only be 12. We just had to hope for a no show (or thats what we thought... more on that later). The early time we took in stride and decided it would be no big deal. It will just make the night longer and we will just have to hit it hard when we arrive at "May of Dreams Central". And hit it hard we did.
I (Joms) arrived quite "late" at 8:15pm and realized that there were quite a few people who had already hit the beverages quite fervently. Of course, these people took the time to dress themselves first being the generally smart people we are. There were a few young ladies who had decided that a little going-out prep session would be in order, as they were held to the same high standards of attire as the rest of us. With little time to spare, all members were ready to go by the time the limo arrived. But then our worst dreams came true, the limo driver informed us that only 10 people could be in the limo. Even with the cancellations or Karan and Scott's Friend, we still had 11 who had their heart set on the limo. But without any further suspense, I would like to present the soon to be newly knighted member of the May of Dreams crew.
Scott Geraedts
In a ceremony that will (most likely) occur later this week, Scott will become either
Sir Scott Geraedts
or
Lord Scott Geraedts
For his unselfish act of giving up his spot in the party limo for the betterment of the may of dreams society.
Of course, (on June 8), he will be given the title of Governor but you can never have too many titles in front of your name.
Anyway, after we all arrived at London Tap House, we were quickly ushered upstairs for some tasty champaign bottle service. But as we expected, the place would not be rocking for a little while as it was before 10:00pm so more drinks were in order. As I said, a few of the ladies decided to spend the precious time before this event preparing their attire instead of their mind (through alcohol...). So some catching up was in order for two of these ladies who are related. And catch up did they ever, by the end of the night, they were leading the way!
After a bit of time on the middle floor, it was decided that the rooftop patio would be a much better place to be as the weather was quite excellent and there seemed to be more occurring up there. The may of dreams crew was definitely owning the dance floor and everyone partook in said activities, even one unnamed person who said that she would not dance. Although she may say that she did not dance and really just got "gang grinded" (Is that politically correct?) by some combination of Sara, Derek, or myself, they was obvious enjoyment in her eyes. All this dancing took a fair bit of energy so thus, around midnight, there were a few departures and some breaks to sit and chat on various pieces of furniture under rather odd umbrellas. But even the breaks could not keep us going much past 1:00pm so we all decided to hit up Montfort for a tasty dish of mediterranean cuisine.
There was no phantom Iced Tea ordered this time which means that the spirit must have been less forceful this evening but all enjoyed their respective dishes. One of the more memorable conversations that took place was between one Derek Attewell and Sara Cormier which I believed summed up the evening quite well.
Derek: "Do you remember that I had to carry you out of London Tap House?"
Sara: "No, I don't remember that..."
Now, one of these two did not remember what happened just thirty minutes prior. I would like to think that both were in such a state to not remember but If I had to pick who remembered, I would have to go with Derek.
After all bills were paid, we all started to head back to "May of Dreams Central" but on the way there, Molly learned of an urgent need to perform a bodily function and frantically searched for a private place to perform such. Following after her big sister I suppose. One of the places that she examined for a private place was around MacNeill Baptist Church which happened to be the church I have attended for the past 4 years... She did not find a spot but all was well when we arrived back at 50 Arnold.
We then parted to our respective humble abodes for a nice evening of sleep and the long weekend of relaxation to prepare for the final week.
Since I could not think of any image to include in this post and a grooveshark account of the songs for this tremendous month, I will now post two images of Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson. The first will get your hopes up, the second will crush your dreams...
And now to crush your dreams...
This blog update was written by Joms (not Jamesy) Brown on behalf of the 14 attendees for this event.

May of Dreams Playlist
I made an account for May of Dreams on Grooveshark. If everyone adds a few songs we could have a sick playlist for events
Username and password are the same as the gmail account.

June Preview
Attendance was low last night due to a variety of factors: Mike had gone back to Oakville to bro there, Derek needed some alone time, and I don't have Matt Coles's phone number. After work, the remaining bros were me (Scott), Sara and James.
Next month is "June of Health and Wellness and not spending all of our money". However, last night had a very June-ish feel to it as the three of us went on a brief group run into Cootes. The run wasn't as long as last time, but to be fair we took no breaks and it was hot out. Sara kept up pretty well.
After the game we all ate nice, nutritious, inexpensive meals (soooo June-like). Sara and James then proceeded to watch their favourite show, which is called "Hockey Night in Canada". I'm not sure what this show is about, but I think it has to do with two teams of scientists and astronauts in colored jerseys trying to get small, black nuclear bombs into these nets, which presumable will restart the sun and save humanity. I gather that the last couple episodes of this show were pretty weak, so James and Sara were hoping for a better episode this time. They seemed to like this episode a lot better, maybe because the scientists in the red jerseys were much better at restarting the sun than the scientists in the white jerseys. In the end, everyone learned an important lesson, which was "Montreal 5, Philadelpha 1"
Whatever that means.
Derek and Jenna showed up briefly during the night, and we discussed important arrangements for tomorrow night. After the show ended, we continued the Juniness of the night by going to bed early and getting a good sleep.

Supercombined, part 3
Today this is what we did.
It was the last frame. Our sweat glistened in the ambient black light. I tried to say something, but my words were caught in my throat. Everything was silent. Everyone was still. Again I tried to speak, and slowly, a sound escaped my throat: "Sara! You can do it!". And then she went.
The day started off pretty normally, after the insane slumber party the night before. Work was good. Jago and I ate a personal size pizza (by far the best size), and added some complimentary dipping sauce to our meal. After work, we decided to go to the Phoenix so the boys could cross a few taps off our list, and so we could enjoy a tasty meal. Sara went home to put on socks.
It was Brit's last day, and we all said goodbye. We all hope you catch some nice, tasty fish. I forget what taps we had, but they were GREAT. Tyler came out to join the fun. Then, we all shuffled into one of the three available cars, and tried to get ready for the upcoming supercombined.
We arrived at the supercombined arena, and much to our dismay, the babes from the previous week were missing. We will never forget you, crazy bowling lady. There was a lot of drama when Karan showed up, as he was placed on a team which meant that Joms Brown had to go solo. He was very upset, and at the time we just laughed at him and called him gay for being so. But the tables would soon turn.
Supercombined started off pretty great, with stellar performances across the board (except Derek). I think Sara got two strikes in a row. Alex Cridland got 3 strikes in a row. Matt and Dana were knocking pins like it was no big deal. Rob and Bram, both first timers, put on a solid show. The highlight was Bram getting a strike his first frame, and Rob not getting anything at all his first frame. Scott had a friend, and he probably did something sweet also. Karan and Derek were the masters of spinning. Tyler could not find his form, and left the first round of supercombined frustrated and unsure of his future.
After the first game, all the teams realized they were in contention for the coveted, deemed impossible by some, distinction of obtaining 1000 points overall. Things became very serious. After the first few rounds of 5 pin, with Joms' team bringing in the points, he was now the one calling us gay and laughing. Drama aside, all teams strained to acheive the big 1000.
Joms' team, thanks to many star players, broke 1000 with a couple frames to spare. Our team was devasted and had a crisis of faith, saying things like "Karan, why did you come", and "Karan, I can't believe you showed up and because of it Joms is on the other team". Tyler, on the middle team, had finally found his calling. He was doing flips, cartwheels, 360 spins, and knocking strikes all over the place. We were all jealous. Possibly due to beer, our team was the last to finish. Sara went into the last frame of the game, with 5 points needed to make 1000. This is where the beginning of this blog post fits.
We all held our breath as she finished her frame, with a few pins knocked down at the end of the lane. Then, one number at time, the score appeared. 1004 POINTS! We broke into what was probably the wildest celebration University Lanes had ever seen. Knocking over everything from bowling balls to each other, it will be interesting to see if next week the bowling staff are still excitied to see us. But we had made the 1000.
After, we went to the Phoenix. Some boys crushed two more pitchers. Tyler had this sweet idea about how people interact and how it forms thoughts, and we all thought it was neat. Then, drunk as can be, we parkoured back to 50 Arnold, where we watched the bunny video and probably a bunch of other funny ones. Some would say: great day.

Slumber Party
The slumber party started with some watching of the hockey game. Everyone was rather subdued and depressed as Montreal was unable to score. Several bros even left to watch lost which seemed to be way more exciting than the game.
After this however the slumber party officially started and we all proceeded to change into our pjs. Those of us who had not brought pjs or had some easily accessible borrowed some of Mike’s. I can now officially say that I’ve been in Mike’s pants, or pjs, which really is better. It was pretty awesome, the being in Mike’s pjs part.
But seriously.
Major triumph of the night was the restoration of the living room which had been deemed unsalvageable. However, after much heavy lifting, smashing, and moving things around, we were able to clear room, fill some of the room with the random mattress to optimise comfort, and create a suitable perch for Mike’s computer, which has awesome battery life by the way. I would like to attribute this rearranging of oddly shaped obstacles to the amount of Tetris that physicists play. Without all the Tetris experience I’m certain that the night would have failed miserably and probably culminated with some fire, everywhere.
We then proceeded to movie watch, after some making of popped corn and some distribution of snacks. Everyone was very thankful for the snacks. The choice of movie was The Amityville Horror staring the kind of attractive Ryan Reynolds and by kind of I mean we all screamed like little girls whenever he took his shirt off, which was very often. It was pretty good for a romantic comedy. The funniest part was when she stayed at the library for like 7 hours, even though she already knew what was up and kinda needed to be in a hurry.
After the movie we proceeded to the main event, which was having a pillow fight in our nighties.

I looked pretty much exactly like that.
After we were all pillow fight-ed out we painted our nails and told our most coveted secrets, which is of course who we all have a crush on. Basically, Derek has a crush on Mike, who in turn has a crush on me. I of course have a crush on Nick. Sara and Brit have crushes on each other but were looking for a third wheel. Nick really wanted to get in on that but they were looking to bring Scot into the mix. Unfortunately Scot’s heart was only for Derek. Party Joms and Party Pizzle were sufficiently freaked out and content to just watch. What happened in the rest of the night is to be interpreted by the reader.
In a completely unrelated note Derek is pregnant.

Bus, Train, Steam Whistle Tour, Spaghetti Factory, BJ game, Brew, Toronto Harbour, Bus
Wowww what a night! It all began at 2:50pm when Jamsey, Mike, Scott, Brit, Alex, Derek and Sara boarded the bus towards Toronto (as per the directions given by our transit director). The bus took us to Aldershot and then it was time for the train. Mike thought it would be best to occupy the last possible car; Brit was nervous as the car door was shut. Mike knew what to do. To stay entertained on the train we played the alphabet game. Turns out, not an easy game. By looking out the train window as a team we needed to find one object that began with each letter of the alphabet. Things were pretty much smooth sailing until the letter Q. I don't remember what we settled on but my favourite suggestion had to be "quantum effects".
Upon arriving at Union we made our way to the Steam Whistle brewery but not before enjoying a tasty cinnabun... yaaaam. We then met up with bro Adam and proceeded to the tour. Great tour. We enjoyed some tasty brews and learned about the environmentally friendly beer making process, all for only $6. Did you know that Steam Whistle is only made with 4 ingredients? As Derek found out one of these ingredients is not so tasty when not in beer form. Also, there is only tiny natural bubbles in Steam Whistle. So educational.
NOTE: If you ever break into the brewery do not drink from the big kegs, way too much pressure and they will blow your brains out.
After tour we took a nice stroll to dinner. Our first attempt at a restaurant was beer market (only spelled differently because in German), way too expensive, even for May of Dreams. We chose the next best option, the spaghetti factory next door. Yaaam.
Dinner made us late for the game, but no one cared. Oakville bros met us as the Rogers center and all 13 of us bought tickets to the 500 level. We missed the first 3 innings but again no one cared. The final score was something like 8-3 for the Twins, but still sweet game. Nice and relaxing game, except of course for the people sitting in front of us. My favourite of her many heckles "My grandmother can swing better than you! And she has no arms!" hahaha, good one.
Post game was bar time at this nice little roof-top patio. Nice finish to a perfect day. We left with just enough time to make it to the bus stop; what would we do with out our transit director? Although we did make the stop in time, the bus was full of intense wrestlers so we were forced to wait till the next bus. In the 45min until the next bus we took a walk down to the harbour. Nice. Scott christened the water. Adam's Toronto skills kept us safe while also saying "no" to all bums; but in a nice way.
Finally, the ride home, uneventful and relaxing.
Great day!
P.S. No pics of Scarlett, but how about her hubby Ryan:
Upon arriving at Union we made our way to the Steam Whistle brewery but not before enjoying a tasty cinnabun... yaaaam. We then met up with bro Adam and proceeded to the tour. Great tour. Day of Weed
The Day of Weed didn't quite pan out as we wanted but plenty of relaxation was had nonetheless. In the afternoon the boys sat out by the pool, read and played a bit of soccer.
Things became a little more substance based after dark while we sat outside and smoke Mike's bong for a bit and watched Montreal get waxed. After giving up all hope for Montreal, we decided to watch Sunshine in glorious 1080p which Derek sacrificed his old house's internet for. An entire hard drive was used to transport this 15gB beast as no flash drive could contain the quality. Mike's laptop nearly died trying to bring the quality to our eyes.

About this much quality
Anyway, sick movie if you haven't seen it. Acting is good and a a really good plot, but the best part of the movie is the relationship between man and the sun. The movie it kind about this little tiny ship going to challenge this massive star which comes to represent god.
The guy who directed it is Danny Boyle. Turns out his next movie was Slum dog Millionaire. Never would have guessed, but it kind of makes sense.
ADDENDUM:
Scott and I, standing barefoot on the street, looking down Arnold, looking at the tree across the street, looking at the sky, watching this sweet dog play fetch, watching a cat sitting on the air conditioner in the house next door, enjoying a frosty beer, and thinking about the spirit, decided: the world is beautiful. -Mike

Hitting the Town: Take 2
After such an adventurous and rousing time the night before, it was little wonder the gentlemen decided to forgo their extracurricular wilderness plans, to see what Hess village could offer once more. Oakville bros were called upon, and the troops began to assemble.
The night began as usual at MOD headquarters, with a couple tasty beverages. A couple burgers were had while the patio was refreshed in anticipation of the coming night. Slowly bros arrived, with the party eventually moving inside, but not before inviting the spirit along, of course. Once inside DJ Derek began to spin some mad tracks beginning of course with a lovely rendition of Benny Benassi: Satisfaction.
NOTE: This video is sacred. It is a masterpiece and hands down one of the most important pieces of modern art to come out of recent decades. Love it, respect it, revere it.
With our blood pumping and hearts racing, we began to drink like prohibition starts tomorrow. Beer was flowing and the promise of a memorable night was certain. Congratulations was given to the gentleman Mr. Scott Geraedts BSc. for being awarded the governor general's award. As the Oakville bros arrived fashionably late, the night was reborn and we began peaking pretty hard.
At this point the gentlemen began a gripping and beautiful performance of "When the night feels my Soul", only to be followed by an encore. With Party Joms on bass and Bram on soprano, our voices blended perfectly, prompting the talent scouts to come from near and far. Our first single hits stores next Wednesday.
Drunk as can be, two cabs were called and subsequently forced to wait for a prolonged amount of time. The entire street noticed as the freshest crew in the game arrived bringing with them a palpable amount of the spirit. All bars were packed, but to no worry of the gentlemen. With VIP guest list, bottle service, and babes waiting for them, the gentlemen proceeded to Elixsir where the bought a couple tasty beverages. At this point the boys split off tending to different necessities. Party Joms, Scottland and myself to control of the dance floor, while Mike and Kevin chose to find a fire exit onto the roof and pee off of a cat walk. The location and activities of others bros is currently unknown, but assumed to be equally audacious.
It was then decided that we had given this establishment enough of our time, so all bros proceeded to end the night off in style at Montfort's. With delicious Mediterranean cuisine in us, we hurried back to where the night began, hoping to take part in yet another altered state. Yet in our excitement racing into Arnold, Jordan decided he simply could not wait and chose to dive head first down the stairs. In the process he dislocated his shoulder in which Karan was kind enough to tend to. After declining Karan's offer to do it himself, Karan and Jordan departed for the hospital while all other bros hit the hay in respect for our fallen bro.
In anticipation for the day ahead.
ADDENDUM:
On the way from our delicious meal back to headquarters, Jordan and Drew saw a pylon and decided it needed t9o be on a roof. They then attempted to toss said pylon onto a 2 story residential roof. Arguing about the most efficient tossing method they began to make quite a commotion. Subsequently a middle aged women came out and started yelling at them in which they replied
"Hey, hey, hey, it's okay. We're just trying to put this pylon on the roof."
To which she left them alone. The task was never completed, perhaps due to Jordan's desperation and desire to fly down a flight of stairs.

Friday, May 14th
After the raucous events of the night prior, and due to some extenuating circumstances, attendance for this fine evening was quite slim. The attendance list in no particular order was,
Joms Brown
Michael
Derek
Nick
Katherine
The evening started at "may of dreams central" watching the end of the Philadelphia/Boston game and appreciating the history that was just made. Derek then got his usual beats going which included such songs as the theme for the evening,
None of us wanted to be left out of the music making so during one of the songs, a few of the gentlemen used there respective beer bottles as instruments of pure joy. The party was than moved to Katherine's house where the pre-drink continued. At this location, there was a wall of movies which included such greats as the "Scream" series and like everyone else in North America "The Titanic" on vhs. At around midnight it was decided that we should finally head to Hess. Nick was left behind at this point as his attire was not elegant enough to be going out in.
As it turns out however, for Sizzles, only Katherine was fully within the dress code. Thus, we took the rejection as a sign and left Hess for Montfort but not before Katherine and Joms obtained some delicious street meat.
When at Montfort, we all enjoyed our respective mediterranean cuisines where the Joms ordered Iced Tea without even saying anything of the sort to the waitress. But no complaints as it was delicious. We then returned to our humble abodes for a restful sleep.

Supercombined 2
The day began normally, with a rainy day at work. Afterwards, we went back to 50 Arnold to try to kill that strange, uncertain time between work and bowling. Mike pulled a sick prank on SaraHHHHH by breaking her razor. All bros got a good laugh.
Next, some of the worlds greatest athletes assembled for what will likely become known as the greatest sporting event of the century (or at least the week): the Supercombined. Bros present were as follows:
Gerry (Joms Brown)
Egg (Michael Afanasiev)
Nom Nom Nom (Scott)
Terri (Derek)
Louisesarasname (Alex)
Edith (Fiona)
Marideth (Dana)
Elaine (Sara)
Nickelbrook (Tara)
Sara (Matt)
In order to save ourselves for the phoenix, it was decided to go easy on the beer. This was followed by a reshuffle of the traditional drinking partners. A variety of very foxy old ladies were on the 5-pin, so we started with a 10-pin game.

They didn't really look anything like this
The game got off to a good start, with Gerry powerfully bowling a strike and two spares to start. However, as the alcohol took effect scores started to worsen dramatically. The big winner of 10-pin was Gerry, with a 112 points. We then started the 5-pin game, which initially had a slow start. The unexpected appearance of Brit proved to be just the inspiration bros needed to pick up their game. I was possessed by the Spirit of Jordy and went on to bowl a remarkable 152 point game. Alas, this was not enough for the bros to break 1000 over both games. Maybe next week.
We then took a van cab over to the third event of supercombined, where Derek, Mike and I managed to drink pitchers of Hoptical Illusion, Keiths, Waterloo Dark and Curmudgeon IPA. We were at this point joined by Jago, Erin and a typically effusive Min-oo. We stayed till WAY after close (I think), and then moved back to 50 Arnold. Once there, we listened to some sick tunes and watched the basketball kid again (see an earlier post). Markus said something funny. Derek changed into some very fashionable pajamas. Eventually, all present retired to a bed, to await another day of May of Dreams.

Blood Work.
Today this is what we did:
The bros were happily at work. Some bros were in a lab, while some other bros were working on computers. The day began miserably, but by the time work was over, a lovely blue had replaced the (also lovely because weather is created by Spirit and we love Spirit) overcast grey. Two bros took this opportunity to purchase some groceries, and when they arrived home they discovered a scrumptious meal of garlic flatbread and pasta prepared for them by Sara. Sara is the greatest, and she is so brave. As a sick prank, she left the oven on until the fire alarm turned on and attained a volume that "was louder than I have ever heard before" and "the worst noise in the world" (quotes by Markus Cara). We all had a good laugh. Great prank Sara!
Then, Markus Cara drove a few bros to Kelsey's. There we watched TV show I wasn't really familiar with. There were these men dressed up in clown costumes running around on ice. I didn't follow the plot too much, but it seemed like there was a huge twist in the end. Everyone was happy about the twist. The bros present were: Scott, Mike, Sara, James Brown, Derek, Nick, Matt, Markus. We got drunk.
Then we proceeded back to 50 Arnold and took part in the May of Dreams activity: Climb school. At this point, Brian was present. We climbed the school and each of us individually nearly plummeted to our deaths. We smoked one down and remarked: "Interesting, we are at the same elevation as the top of a tree." We then proceeded to dismount the school, which led again to an episode of certain, inevitable death. Fortunately, we did not die.
We then hung out front of 50 Arnold for a bit. A joke occurred where Derek made a quick hand motion, saying "Hey guys look at this!". Some bros in the circle thought he had grabbed a wild, rabid raccoon, and reacted with much fear. A good laugh was had when it was realized that there was no actual raccoon. We watched Mitch Hedburg jokes on youtube, so funny.
We spoke of how excited we were for supercombined.

Iron Man
After a morning of hard work, the group met for lunch. Derek, Mike and I enjoyed the first dog of the season. We then discussed travel plans for iron man the director of transportation informed us to catch the 5C at 5:30. I met the boys (and Sara) on the bus at McMaster, bringing a small tin of nachos from the student center. It was found that the nachos were completely inedible at this point, after having likely degraded to plastic in the years and months before McMaster Hospitality Services deemed them appropriate for sale to students. Undeterred, Jago polished the nachos off for a free meal.
We arrived at the theater around 6:30 for the 7:10 show in anticipation of massive crowds. After rushing into the theatre we barely managed to secure a row of seats against throngs of people desperate to see iron man. Actually, we were the first ones there so we ended up with some serious time to kill. It went by fast though and more participants arrived.
Some good trailers were seen at the movie which I can't remember at the moment, but I was definitely interested. Maybe someone else can fill me in on what for. The movie was solid with powerhouse performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke. Sam Rockwell took the role of Justin Hammer (seriously?) for mixed reviews. However I think we can all agree that the real standout performance was Scarlett Johansson. I'm not exactly sure what her role was but come on
Can't compete with that.
I think just about everyone who reads this blog has now seen the movie, but in case you haven't here is your spoiler warning.
After the credits rolled we were treated to a bonus scene with generic agent in the New Mexico Desert staring over a large crater. He then calls Samuel L. Jackson (with an eyepatch) and said something ominous which I forget and we are treated to a view of a big hammer which has apparently made the crater. For those not familiar with comic book lore this was Thor's Hammer. You are probably already familiar with Thor as the Norse god of Thunder, but you may not also know that when he is notr ruthlessly murdering his enemies he is a superhero for Marvel comics.

Who knew?
After the movie we returned to Arnold to watch the game. While most members opted to take public transportation, James Brown chose to bike through torrential rain all the way from the mountain to Arnold. Upon arriving at Arnold, James was offered a seat, however he refused, instead going to get a brew. For this impressive display of May of Dreams spirit, James Brown is hereby awarded the title 'Iron Man'.

The day all started a little after 5pm when I received a text from Mike indicating that group run was taking place at 5:30pm. I, being still at the office, informed Mike that this was unreasonable as my shorts and shoes were half an hour away and so would take almost an hour to acquire. Mike responded as any bro would by saying: ‘Yo make it happen.’
We started the run shortly after 5:30 all in our running gear. Attendance consisted of Mike, Derek, Scott, James, Sara and myself. It was a lovely rout taking us from Westdale through Mac and ultimately into cootes. Mike was kind enough to guide us using his GPS voice which was quite comical. Some of the boys had been to this area on an earlier evening (when it was quite dark) were amazed at how different the landscape looked. It was lovely to jog through the trees catching glimpses of smooth water. We stopped occasionally to regroup and partake in some parkour. We were able to find Jordy and the Spirit and remarked on the beauty surrounding us. The jog culminated with a race up the final hill.
All agreed that this activity was a great success and tones of fun. Talk ensued about reprising the group jog at a later date. I must say it was quite nice to do something active and combat all the stress that physics puts on one’s body.
After the run the boys and I proceeded to the pub for dinner and a pint. Derek, Mike and Scott had a pitcher of grasshopper, a delicious wheat beer; their fifth on the list of 20 beers to try. We ate, drank, and watched the game. Mike had to leave us early to catch a bus, he was missed. It was agreed we would head home after the first period to minimize time missed. However, as we were about to leave it was realized that some of the grasshopper had gone unconsumed. This was considered bad form and not acceptable. Also, it would make all of us cry, what with beer being the greatest expense of students studying physics. We sat back down and Scott finished the beer, but not before the Penguins scored.
It was a sad walk home.
We were pleasantly surprised though as Montréal came back within a minute of us arriving home. It was an enjoyable nerve racking game with much wood knocking. James and Sara, as well as the rest of us, were delighted with the outcome.
After the game, with the evening winding down, we clarified some rules regarding chance cards which I will now detail for those of us not in attendance.
In the event that an unsuitable chance card is drawn (which is against the true nature of chance cards, the idea being that we should make it happen regardless) there is a procedure to discard it from the evening. This of course was difficult to do as it challenges the idea that a chance card will force us to do things that at first seem difficult but eventually lead to an awesome and memorable night. After a vote, in which the majority say nay on the chance card a new chance card may be draw but on the condition that we draw a second additional chance card. Yes. Two chance cards to be fulfilled by the end of the night; certainly not an easy task to undertake (as many chance cards take an entire evening to satisfy).
In addition, we made a few new chance cards before heading to our respective homes. Excepting for Derek, who needed to go see his lady friend as he has been neglecting her. But this was all in the spirit of May of Dreams which is proving to resemble a full time job.
All in all it was a pretty excellent day filled with many memories. It is worthwhile to note that all green bins involved were dealt with in the proper manner.
Wednesday will certainly be an exciting night.

Sunday May 9th
Mother's day.
Originally a day left off the May of Dreams calender (for obvious reasons) but one that will now go down on the books as nothing short of epic.
The night began with a meet up in Sara's room where Jago, Allie, Scott, Sarah, Mike, Mike's bro from home, Derek and Brian were chillin like villins. A bowl was then packed and smoked from a pipe in the presence of the awesome tree that embodies the May of Dreams spirit. It was a sweet session with some sick weed Mike's cousin got us.
Next up was Wendy's. It was magical. Wendy's is probably the best thing in the world to get when you're high. The way the frosty is nice and cool and the burgers are made fresh with quality ingredients. It's one of a kind. My only regret was not buying enough food to last me into the movie.
Big shout out right here to Scott for driving us out there, that made things much easier for everyone involved. Although it should be mentioned that Mike chose to roller blade, which he says was sick. We should all try it at some point.
The movie. Every one who watched the movie (which includes Sandra and Bram at this point) pretty much knows it can be described by just those two words. It was an intense look at what it would be like to actually live forever. I could try and summarize it but it just wouldn't be the same. Everyone should watch this movie.
Brian.

Friday May 7th - A day of beers and flip cup
To begin this blog I would like to begin with a confession. At one point, before the official commencement of May of Dreams I had my doubts. Shocking, I know. The decision to live at 50 Arnold for the month of May was a difficult one to make. For one, living with all boys is a little intimidating. For two, 50 Arnold is not the cleanest of abodes. The day of move-in, May 1st, I was very discouraged. The living room was inaccessible (except for very recently when 4 bros slept in there, still a mystery to me). Cleaning the bathroom was a huge undertaking. The kitchen, well the kitchen could’ve been worse I suppose, but could’ve also been better. The most disheartening thing of all was the front hall, which has an odour that must be experienced to understand. I think I’ll take this point to remind all bros to keep the raccoon door closed when visiting 50.
The doubts I once had are now a distant memory. Scott and Mike, you are wonderful roommates. I wonder now how I could have ever questioned such a momentous event in my life. The memories we are making will last a lifetime.
Yesterday was no exception. The day began relatively uneventful. Work was slow and the weather was yucky. After work some bros took a nap. Other bros went grocery shopping and bought too much food because it was on sale. May of Dreams members and guests started arriving at 50 around 8. The bros were split between the room of Hockey (Sara’s) and the dark room (Mike’s). Beers were had. Dancing and clubbing was planned. It was windy and raining and cold out, but flip cup was on the calendar of events and thus needed to be played. In order to maintain clean, dry clubbing attire the decision was made to play in one’s underwear on the patio. The game was intense. My team won.
The dream of clubbing and dancing was becoming less and less feasible due to time and weather conditions. Some bros (Derek) refused to give up but in the end it was Snooty and Montfort that ended the night. I didn’t attend these events but am sure memories were made. Back at home, I spent a good 20 min trying to prank Mike’s computer. Google images is highly censored and turns out finding pictures of naked women is not as easy as it may seem. I’m sure by the end of May by pranking skills will improve.
This is what dreams are made of!

Supercombined: Chapter 1
Last night the gentlemen participated in the age old tradition of the Supercombined.
The night began on a sombre note as two gentlemen shared the hungry student special, reveling in it's crispy glory. As the evening progressed bros began to accumulate at 50 Arnold, culminating with the appearance of Karan, son of Sethpaul. With promise in the air and excitement in their eyes, the bros then proceeded to catch the bowling express to university lanes.
We would like to take a moment now to acknowledge the absence of our good friend, Mr. Takes-his-job-too-seriously. Knowing how seriously he takes his career, we can only imagine what must have happened to keep him from true purpose in life. Fortunately his replacement was slightly hot, and clearly wanted our junk.
With a pitcher in hand each, bowling commenced with a stellar performance on the 10-pin lanes. With strikes a plenty, two stand far above with Party Joms ESQ and Olex performing a double strike.
The bros the proceeded to begin a 5-pin game, which was significantly worse than the previous, which can logically be attributed to the delicious soda beer. After much light spirited revelry followed by Alex bowling into Mike's lane and promptly collapsing, the gentlemen proceeded to the bus stop and ended up calling cabs.
At the Phoenix we were joined by more bros, and we tried two new taps (as noted below). Much beer was drank, and the night slowly wound to a close. Some gentlemen chose to return to Arnold, participate in a hookah session and then watch a touching video found below:

3 DICKS:
At bowling a joke was made: "Hey Sara, imagine if Scott, Derek and I took a picture naked and then put it on your background." Sara laughed not knowing the implications of such a statement. Later on back at Arnold Sara opened her laptop to find 3 erect penises on her background. The owners of said dicks remains unknown.

Nice Relaxing Recovery Day (May 5th)
May 5th was a nice relaxing evening after the raucous events that took place not less than one night prior. In the late evening, a couple of the gentleman were up the stairs in "may of dreams central" watching nothing less than lost. Downstairs, hockey was being watched. At around 9:30pm, there was a union of a majority of the platinum members for what should be done for the rest of the evening. It was decided that it was necessary to make a visit to one of the Platinum Member's humble abode (Jenna's).
When we arrived, it was very much a foreign land for the may of dreams crew. There was very little comprehension of the house that we had just stepped into. Huge windows and bathrooms larger than most student's rooms. And if it was not magical enough, there was a stairway that led to nothing. One can only imagine what is at the top...
After a nice cordial chat with some brews in hand, it was decided that we should all rest up for the "Super Combined" activities tomorrow. But in order to finish the night, we had to end it with a high note so this was the video we watched.
After said entertainment, we all departed to our respective homesteads.
To finish of this update, there is just a housecleaning note. The schedule for the Blog updates is as follows.
1)Michael
2)Scott
3)Party Joms
4)Derek
5)Sara
6)Brian
7)Matt
8)Jenna
9)Bram
Rotate through as necessary.

An evening with the spirit
Last night was a different experience for every bro involved. Some bros watched a hockey game, some scattered shower curtains around Toronto bars. Still other bros had a modest, restrained evening enjoying nature in the woods. It was a memorable evening, but the things that were done and said cannot really be expressed in words. The important thing is that we will remember that night every time we're in the woods at night.
For future reference, here are the rules for May of Dreams:
1) Make a memory every night
2) No bedtimes
3) Respect the green bin
4) Pay respect to Jordy and the Spirit once a day
5) Mike Sommers
6) Do unto bros as you would have bros do unto you
7)
8) Why stop at 8?

May 3rd
Today this is what we did:
I got off a plane from Calgary, tired as fuck, at 6:45 a.m. I took the 107 'Malton Express' bus from the Viscount parking lot to Square One, and the 47 McMaster express to McMaster. Then, it was time for work. I met Tyler, a friend of Mike Sommers. One after another, the amount of bros multiplied. Work passed without incident. We lay under trees for lunch.
Sara and Scott have moved into Arnold. We cleaned a bit; it was messy like the hairline on a young Russian boy who is more Canadian than Russian. Very messy.
May of dreams then. We made 8 rules. They will be listed in a future blog post to generate suspense and to save me from getting up to look at poster.
Those present: Bram, Brian, Brian's friend, Derek, Sara, Scott, Joms, Jenna, Spirit.
We also climbed the tree out in front of arnold and crushed some BREWHOUSES that I brought back from sunny Alberta. Yummmmmmmmm! We decided that Brewhouse should have the slogan 'like a kegger...in a can!' due to its flatness. We put the one remaining Brewhouse in the milk box for consumption on the final day of May of Dreams.
We made the calendar. Will it work? Time will tell. The boys went pee behind the house numerous times.
Thoughts of tomorrow bring smiles and laughter. It is already moving too fast.
